I showered at Starbucks

Alex visited me at work today.  I take him to the university where I work pretty often.  I think sometimes he knows his way around it better than a lot of the freshmen students I see.  He loves going to my office and pretending that he works there too.  He often goes through my ‘waiting to be shredded’ pile of papers and starts stapling and writing on every single paper he can find.  After work we walked over to the new chemistry building.  This has become our favorite building because it has a full-service Starbucks! While we were waiting for our drinks, we walked around the building.  He loves the emergency shower/eye stations that are placed throughout the halls.  Every time people asked him where we went he’ll tell them we went to Starbucks and that he took a shower there.

He loves his white jeans.  He always wants to wear them with his robot sweater. 

Weekly Visit to Starbucks

Alex and I go to Starbucks every Wednesday.  All the baristas love him and are always giving him cake pops, chocolate chip cookies, and other pastries. Other people that visit that frequent that location, know him already and are always happy to see him. 


I went to Starbucks on Monday without him and there were other kids his age there and I realized just how awesome Alex really is.  These kids were running around, climbing the furniture, playing with the merchandise, and doing whatever they wanted.  Anytime their parents told them to stop, they would just scream or yell no and continue doing what they wanted. 


Alex is no saint.  He has moments when he just won't listen, but 95% of the time, he's great.  When he doesn't listen, it's not that bad.   He just wants to keep ordering stuff he won't eat or drink, or he wants to sit outside, which makes me nervous.  


But most of the time, he orders his own stuff, goes and says hi to everyone there,  hangs out with the baristas, plays with the iPad a little while, and then takes pictures of himself for about 20 minutes.  My iPad photo stream is full of pictures of the ceiling, his forehead, the floor, his cheek, a part of his eye, etc.... 

Happy Birthday!

Alex turned three this week. They grow up so fast. *tear

He's obsessed with Thomas the train so my brother (Alex's dad) and my mom baked him a Percy cake in less than an hour.  I think it turned out pretty good.

 He loved it of course.

Snow globe

This musical snow globe has been Alex's favorite since he was about six months old.  He loves playing with it, but is a little afraid to shake it sometimes.  I think it's because the thing is pretty heavy.  

He's mesmerized by the snow and the music, but gets really upset/sad when the snow stops falling.  

A game of peekaboo always cheers him up.   

One Little Monkey Jumping on the Bed

There are times when toys are not enough to keep a kid entertained.  Something that always works with Alex is running around the house chasing each other and jumping on the bed.  If he could, he would run around for hours.  Actually, I'm pretty sure he can.  I on the other hand, need a break after the first half hour.
